Work and Play, Together: A Long-Awaited Teamup Meetup

Teamup team meetup 2023

As a distributed team, we stay connected online and make the most of our tools to support each other in work and life. But we enjoy seeing each other “in real life” when we can, and usually have an annual meetup. However, since circumstances made travel unsafe for so long, it’s been a while since our last team meeting in late 2019. In January 2023, we trekked our way from around the world to enjoy some in-person time in Engadin, deep in the beautiful Swiss Alps, right after Teamup successfully supported the media bookings operation at this year’s World Economic Forum in Davos.

Just arrived: From three continents, now in one room. We made it!

We spent a weekend in the mountains, enjoying great food, amazing scenery, thoughtful discussions, and lots of laughter.

Scenic train ride through Bernina Pass

Morning yoga and breathing exercises stretched us in lots of ways.

Morning yoga to get things started

We took in views from the winding train through Bernina Pass down to Poschiavo and enjoyed the local speciality in St. Moritz.

Enjoying traditional Swiss fare

We went sledging down the mountainside, and recovered with relaxing time in the nearby thermal spa.

What goes up… must come down!

We concluded with a day of meetings, Teamup-style: no formal presentations or uncomfortable conference tables. Instead, we talked about conscious leadership, and took turns leading the group on a topic of one’s own choice: through art, yoga, conversation, sharing life lessons, a book club, coding tutorials, discussions about parenting, technology, and growth, and a body percussion workshop. It was enlightening to experience the leader in each of us and the different ways we lead in our personal and professional lives.

In search of creativity
A day of conscious leadership: Create, play, learn from each other

Some of the team stayed on to work together in our Zurich office for a day or so, before we all returned home.

We’re thankful for the meetups that let us see each other in new light and get better at working together, from far apart. Once again, another truly unforgettable experience, a highlight of the Teamup way of work and play!
